2011 - OFF WE GO AGAIN!
12th January 2010
2011 - and a freezing Winter which the auriculas loved. They always enjoy alpine weather and so do we, but only when the sun shines!
OUR next talk will be to the Bournemouth and District Horticultural Society on October 4th, 2011 and on October 27th we'll be at Collingbournes and Everleigh Gardening Club near Tidworth in Wiltshire. There will be plants for sale, please contact us for further details.
THE annual seminar of the Southern Section of the National Auricula and Primula Society is on October 22nd 2011. Everyone is welcome to attend the afternoon session, which includes a presentation by the well-known author and auricula expert Allan Guest. The seminar is held at the Harrison Room, The Old Barn Hall, Great Bookham, Surrey KT23 3PQ.
POP'S PLANTS annual AURICULA WEEKEND this year raised £524.00 for the New Forest Carers' Forum - an organisation for people caring for their loved ones at home. We dodged the thunder storms and over-indulged in cake as usual...Thanks to all who visited and donated, and everyone who gave up their time to help. You were great!
IF you happened to visit New York's Botanical Gardens this Spring, you may have seen the plants we supplied for their Auricula Theatre. If you have any pictures we would love to see them. In London, we once again 'dressed' the theatre at the GEFFRYE MUSEUM in their period gardens. Lovely at all times of the year.
LAST year's big news was from the Malvern Spring Gardening Show. Not only were we delighted to win a Gold Medal, but HRH, the Princess Royal, also visited us on our stand as part of the celebrations for the Show's Silver Anniversary. As usual, it was grand to meet so many customers face to face.
AS usual, we have sent auriculas around the world again - including the Falkland Islands, Japan, Russia and Alaska, as well as to many parts of Europe. It's really encouraging to see the plants getting established in the most unlikely places.
WE still have a limited number of signed copies of Allan Guest's lovely and informative book 'THE AURICULA - A HISTORY, CULTIVATION AND VARIETIES' available. This is your chance to buy a signed first edition! The price is £19.95 including postage and packing to the UK.
TO see pictures of the beautiful plants displayed by members of the NATIONAL AURICULA AND PRIMULA SOCIETY at their annual shows this spring, take a look at the websites of the three sections. There are links from the website of the Southern Section www.southernauriculaprimula.org
