In the early days of the 1700s Striped Auriculas - indeed various striped flowers - were very popular. But by the end of that century fashion dictated otherwise, and they were all but lost to cultivation.
The Stripes began their comeback less than forty years ago, thanks to the creative efforts of just a few enthusiasts. New varieties are now appearing every year, and with luck Striped Auriculas are once again here to stay.
